Miko Marine AS is a privately owned business. The ownership is split between Buksér og Berging (Neptun) and the Miko group. Miko Marine US LLC is a subsidiary to Miko Marine AS located in Louisiana.

Buksér og Berging (BB) is Norway’s leading tug owner operating a fleet of 33 harbor and offshore tugs/AHT. BB provides a range of marine services stemming from long-standing experience within port towage, marine contracting and salvage. Further, BB operates a fleet of 25 high performance pilot boats stationed at 16 pilot stations along the Norwegian coast ensuring safe and efficient transfer of pilots.

Miko Trading buys damaged goods from insurance companies to recycle and reuse them. Miko Plast produces plastic products from recycled material. All three sister companies in the Miko group share the same level of innovation and commitment to protect the environment.

Managing Director

Cato holds an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, USA, and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from University of San Francisco. He has more than 30 years of work experience within banking, shipping, landbased industry and the service industry.

John Gunnar joined Miko Marine in June 2021, bringing with him more than four decades of experience from the maritime sector. Throughout his career, he has held a range of senior technical and operational positions aboard different vessels and ashore, with particular responsibility for marine engineering, vessel safety, emergency preparedness, and operational coordination on both specialized and civilian ships. From 2000 to 2021, John served as the Norwegian representative in an international specialist forum focused on ship survivability, safety, and operational resilience. Prior to joining Miko Marine, he led a training and educational establishment overseeing technical safety, engineering standards, and maritime risk management.

William holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Bournemouth University. He has over 10 years of experience in account management and operational logistics, with prior roles spanning public tenders for government clients and the maritime sector.

Espen graduated as a Mechanical Design Engineer in 2014. Since then he has worked in Miko Marine as Project Engineer, Product Manager and Technical Lead in various projects. Espen specializes in product development and customized solutions.

Emilie graduated from Chalmers University in 2016 with a master’s degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. She has previous experience from a northern based ship design firm before joining the Miko team in October 2020, as a Marine Engineer. Emilie has specialized in hydrodynamics and ship design.

Truls graduated from NTNU – Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2019 with a Master of Science in Marine Technology specializing in Marine Structures. During the course of his education, Truls gained knowledge within structural engineering and marine operations which he will continue to develop in Miko Marine.
